COLOUR WHEEL

1) How do you mix a tertiary colour?

You mix a tertiary colour with a secondary colour to make a tertiary colour.

2) How do you make a colour neutral?

You make a colour neutral by adding white or black

3) How do you mix a shade of brown?

You make green by mixing blue and yellow, then add portions of red into you achieve the shade of brown you like best.

4)“How does colour affect the viewers reaction to Picasso’s “Celestina” in blue tones and in Kiki Smith’s “Virgin Mary” in red tones?

The blue gives “Celestina” a sad, gloomy look as the red gives a feeling of warmth and life to “Virgin Mary."

5) How does colour in these two works of art play a role in the reaction of the viewer?

The colour scheme affects how the viewer interprets the photo, if Celestina were in a natural colour scheme, we wouldn’t assume that she was sad.

6) How might other people’s associations with colour affect their perception of this
portrait?” (A2.1)

If someone associated warm colours with being miserable, they would interpret “Virgin Mary" differently than how other people would see it.

7) Looking to your colour wheel, what are 3 areas you are most proud of and what are 3 areas if you had more time you would rework and why?

I quite like my work on the Yellows and the warm colours as I feel my painting was better on those, but I could improve on my painting for the colder colours and I could have spent more time on the colours of the title.
